The Homestead property itself is full of activities, but it also makes the perfect launching pad for all that Montana has to offer. Around here we like to say there are at least 60 activities within a 60 minute drive. So here’s 60 of our favorites.

  • Glacier National Park

    One of America’s greatest wonders is right in our backyard. Explore the endless trails and beauty the National Park has to offer.

  • Whitefish Mountain Resort

    Ski Magazine continually ranks our home mountain in the top 10. Amazing powder without the lift lines.

  • Fly-fishing

    There is plenty of great fly-fishing water nearby whether it's floating the North Fork or hiking to an alpine lake.

  • Snowmobiling

    The trails and logging roads can feel endless. Perfect for a day of exploring.

  • Bird Hunting

    There is some world class bird hunting nearby. Like a good bird dog, we’ll point you in the right direction.

  • Hang on Whitefish Lake

    Come July, Whitefish Lake is perfect for all boating activities. Tie up and have a drink, or surf till your legs turn to jello.

  • Golf

    Not only is there golf onsite, but there are 12 courses available in the Valley.

  • Under the Big Sky Festival

    In it’s 4th year running, there is a three day music festival attracting some of rock and bluegrass’s top talent.

  • Rodeo

    Nothing beats catching the Rodeo behind the Blue Moon.

  • Cat Skiing

    Want to go beyond the resort and into the backcountry? Great. Epic cat-skiing is just up the road.

  • Sailing

    Sailing… in Montana? You bet. Flathead Lake has some of the best lake sailing in North America.

  • Horseback Riding

    Go deep into the backcountry exploring endless trails on horseback.

  • Microbrewery Hopping

    There is a multitude of craft breweries popping up around homebase. Makes for a perfect pitstop before or after the day’s activity.

  • Backcountry Camping

    There is no better way to experience a big sky of stars than an overnight camp.

  • Woody Weekend

    Catch the annual Whitefish Woody Weekend with over 40 classic mahogany boats on view.

  • Cliff Jumping

    Tally Lake has some epic cliff jumping. There are some perfect beginner drops… and some that we can’t recommend ;)

  • Day-trip to Polebridge

    Exploring the North Fork of the Flathead River and Glacier Park from Polebridge is an amazing experience.

  • Explore "The Bob"

    The Bob Marshall Wilderness, just to the south of Glacier is a rugged wilderness where you can truly escape from it all.

  • Whitefish Winter Carnival

    The Winter Carnival is a tradition dating back to 1960. A full month of activities, polar plunges, all culminating in a parade down main street in early February.

  • Biking Going-to-the-Sun

    In May and June when Going-to-the-Sun is still closed to cars it is one of the best bike rides in the world!

  • Foraging

    A wild mushroom risotto tastes that much better after a day hunting them down in the woods. Our trained Field Guides will help you identify all species.

  • Kayak Glacier

    Kayaking in one of Glacier’s many lakes is definitely a to-do activity.

  • Skydiving

    Nothing beats skydiving out of the Big Sky!

  • Mountain Biking

    The trails around here range from mellow to crazy ladders built through the trees. But there are miles of trails for everyone.

  • Ride the train

    You can jump on (or off) the train right in Whitefish. Taking the train out to West Glacier is a fun experience.

  • Huckleberry Picking

    Have you ever made your own Huckleberry pie? Or better yet a Huckleberry cocktail? Trust us, it tastes better when you pick the hucks yourself!

    There is nothing more white knuckle than running the Flathead or Kootenai rivers in the Spring.

  • Cross Country Skiing

    We are across the street from the Round Meadows XC center, one of the best trail networks in Montana.

  • Hungry Horse Dam

    Did you know at 564 feet high, Hungry Horse is one of the largest concrete arch dams in the United States? It’s a sight to behold.

  • Camp in a Fire Lookout

    When you camp in a fire lookout you can’t help but feel the generations of history on the walls.

  • Tuesday Night Farmers Market

    The Whitefish Farmers market is bustling with fresh produce, baked goods, food trucks and live music. A perfect Tuesday night.

  • Catch a Ballgame

    This Summer, minor league baseball comes to the valley. Cheer on the Range Riders while looking at Whitefish Mountain looming over center field.

  • 4th Fireworks on a boat

    Firework shows are awesome. They are even more awesome watching from a boat with hundreds of your closest boating friends.

  • Skate on a lake

    A little game of hockey, or even a free skate on a frozen lake makes for some amazing memories.

  • Kalispell Fair

    The Kalispell fair is a staple. You can’t miss the demolition derby! (or the funnel cake)

  • Off Roading

    Sure you could take 93 to 40 to 2 to Glacier. Or forest road 114 straight through a mountain range. Much more fun. Trust us.

  • Hunting

    For the avid hunters, there is some great access minutes from the front gate.

  • Dirt Biking

    There are endless trails, and even parks for all skill levels.

  • Archery

    Fine tune your skills or learn on our state-of-the-art archery range.

  • Hiking

    Some consider Glacier National Park to be the holy grail for hikers. But even closer the Whitefish Trail network offers endless miles of hikes.

    Want to feel more comfortable exploring the backcountry. Take an avalanche class right here on our home range.

  • Multi-day North Fork Float

    Spend a few days floating and fishing the North Fork. With the right guides you’ll have some epic dinners right around the campfire.

    Explore the snowy woods behind a team of trained dogs, some of whom have pulled Iditarod competitors.

    Like a Sasquatch, sightings are rare. But when the conditions are just right, you can catch a glimpse and an epic photos of the Northern Lights.

    The Christmas Eve torchlight parade at Whitefish Mountain is a tradition. Santa skis down by torchlight and hands out gifts!

  • Bigfork Art Festival

    Catch the annual Bigfork Art Festival. Walk the quant main street and shop art from nationally recognized artists.

  • Cut your own X-mas Tree

    Sure you can go to tree lot. OR you can get a $10 permit and go on the adventure for the perfect tree for the holidays.

  • Farm your own dinner

    With four organic farms within 5 miles, you can truly harvest your own dinner. Talk about fresh!

  • Hit the town

    Come Friday night (or any night), downtown Whitefish is hopping. There are plenty of good watering holes with live music.

  • Ice Fishing

    Sounds cold. But it is oddly satisfying when you land a huge rainbow trout through the hole in the ice.

  • Floatplane Tour

    Take off from Whitefish lake and see the Valley from above!

  • Polar Plunge

    During winter, channel your inner Wim Hof and take a plunge into one of the hundreds of the lakes nearby. It’s energizing!

  • Race

    There are countless road, trail, triathlon, marathon, and even canoe races throughout the year. And the competition is stiff around here!

  • Float the river

    There are bunch of lazy float nearby. Perfect for tying up the cooler.

  • Curling

    Inspired by the Olympic curlers? Well give it a shot one of the local rinks. They have beer leagues too… just sayin’.

  • Zip Line

    Whitefish Mountain Resort has one of the more extensive zip line setups in North America. Perfect for kids and adults.

  • Disc Golf

    The disc golf courses around the valley truly leverage the natural geography. It makes for a great game… and hike sometimes.

  • Catch some live music

    All year round you can catch some great live music at Gunsight, Tupelo, Remington, The Northern and more. Local guy Mike Murray is really good.

  • Hike Jewel Basin

    The trails throughout Jewel Basin are a secret gem! (cheesy pun alert!)
